another long day, dogs still perfect

but this time i left a key for the neighbor. she let them out about 5:30 and they got to hang out in the backyard for an hour or so.

i still haven't actually seen the collapsed bridge, partly because i've been at work pretty much nonstop, and partly because the police have cordoned off a wide perimeter around it--any place where you might actually see anything is off limits. my little sister took her camera and cruised around yesterday, trying to get pictures--not to be ghoulish, but because there's a pressing need in most of us to go see for ourselves what happened. (she took the picture above, and another one posted over on our family blog.)

but the dogs are great to come home to. they are getting used to eating at odd hours, and to these strange, midnight walks.
