suddenly busy (again)
so i have to polish up my food writers' speech, incorporating as many of willowtree's punny suggestions as possible since today is, after all, his birthday. it'll be my gift to him.
i'll be gone all afternoon because after the speech i have to meet with six writers, one at a time, to talk about their work. (and i'm not entirely sure what to tell the nice women who write the gadget column. that's not the kind of writing i know a lot about.)
and then i find out that friends will be in town for the state fair, staying with us tonight, and suddenly, yikes, i must clean the house, even though i won't be home; it's full of muddy paw prints and lots of shedded hair. and then another couple wants to get together tomorrow night. and then one of doug's friends will be in town from chicago and doug has to somehow shoehorn him in, too.
and i still have a stack of creative blogger awards that i must dispense, thanks to the rotten correspondent (who has an excellent post today about reading).
so doug is walking the boys in the soggy morning damp, and my task is to start vacuuming. and cleaning the bathroom. and oh the kitchen floor has big sticky splotches on it, so i'd better get to that, too. all of which is to say, no blog this morning. i just don't have time.
