A three dog-walks day

i should be ashamed. i had an entire day, and i did nothing of consequence with it. i squandered it freely. and i'd be happy to squander another one today, except that boscoe has an appointment with dr. heather and i have Serious Errands to Run and chores to do.
but my birthday was one long lazy self-indulgence. in the morning, doug and i walked the dogs and i opened presents over breakfast.
then he went to work, and i settled in for some serious goofing off. i read a couple hundred pages of "the streets of laredo." i meant to walk riley to california, but boscoe leaped off the couch like a puppy, got between us and the door, and said, hell no! you're not going without me! so i walked them both around the lake.
the sky was vivid october blue, the breeze was sharp but the sun was warm. the leaves that remained on the trees glowed golden.
i scanned in some more old photos. while the photos scanned, i made the rounds of my blog friends. i took a nap with
boscoe. presents arrived throughout the day, several of them edible. i ate some chicken soup. i leashed up riley and we walked to california. my friend sporty called from chicago, and we talked on the phone.
i ate a chocolate covered strawberry. (i got a whole box of 'em from erik.) i ate some candy corn. (i got a whole bag of 'em from doug.) i put the other chocolates (from pam) in the freezer, to keep myself from devouring them.
i took a quiz online. my results appalled boscoe and riley, who can't believe i'm not 100 percent dog.

![]() You and dogs definitely have a lot in common. You're both goofy, happy, and content with the small things in life. However, you're definitely not as needy as the average dog. You need your down time occasionally. |
doug came home and built a fire. he poured me some wine. we watched the world series. the dogs napped at our feet.
it is interesting how a day of so little can make me so happy.
