End of summer thanks

It wasn't a hot summer, but we had some pretty warm days. We kept the spare dog dish filled with clean water, out by the curb.

Many mornings on the porch, as we were waking up and drinking coffee, early-morning dogs would walk by and stop and take a drink.

Which usually set off Riley and Boscoe.

Sometimes we saw small birds perched on the dog dish, as though it was a birdbath. Once in a while, a squirrel would take a drink.

The other night I came home to this little bag of colorful milk bones, and an envelope.

Inside the envelope was this card.

Inside the card, it said this.

I'm not sure who Magnolia is, or how many times our guys might have barked at her. But my goodness, she sure has good manners. (And very nice handwriting.)

Awwwwww! That's sweet!!!

Its really too bad that more people aren't as considerate! I had tried to do that for the strays here, in my little WI Podunk Haven, someone stoled the water dish and food dish I set out on my front step! (And I didn't even get a thank you card!!! Geesh!!!)

That's really cool that Magnolia did that! Very considerate poochie for sure!

tracy, someone stole our water dish last summer. this year, we seem to have made it through the season without any thievery.

That's nice of them, but it's even nicer of you to provide the water!

How nice of Magnolia! And how nice of you to set out that water dish!

Heartwarming! A triumph of the doggie spirit!

WT, we didn't think of it ourselves. we're not that kind or that creative.

but there's a house six or eight blocks away that puts out a white enameled bucket every summer with a sign that says, "for thirsty dogs." and our boys have been grateful for that water.

so we started doing the same.
