Devotion

I almost never tell you cute kid stories, not having any cute kids of my own. But this one is irresistible.
A friend of mine entered her unpublished novel in amazon dot com's competition. Readers can download the first few pages of each submission and comment on them.
My friend got lots of great reviews, but also some negative ones. The negative ones annoyed her 10-year-old son.
A few days ago, he came into her office and said, "Mom, I wrote my own review of your book."
She said, "Will, you can't. you're my son! Plus, you need an amazon account."
Will said, "No, it's ok, I posted it under your account."
So for several days (until she figured out how to remove it), this review sat on amazon's website, amongst the reviews of my friend's book, under my friend's name:
A very good book that has been written quite well. A reporter for something like writers weekly called it crap so nertz to that reporter. Right back at him/her.
Now that is a boy who loves his mom. Anyway, if you're interested in reading her first few pages and commenting on them (nicely, I hope), you can go here.
A note on the photo: This is will, luring boscoe and riley around our back yard by virtue of the treats he has crammed into his pocket. This is several years ago, when he was 5 or 6.
