That book meme
Both babaloo and welshhills again have tagged me for the book meme, where you take a book you're reading, turn to page 123, and copy out three sentences.
I'm not sure that these sentences will make any sense at all, and I'm not on page 123 yet, but here goes. The book is "The Whisperers: Private Life in Stalin's Russia," by Orlando Figes.
Page 123:
"Gerasimovka was a miserable place. The poorest peasants had one cow, the richest, two. Only nine had a samovar."
Ohhh kay, you're thinking, this is inspiring! I wanna dig right into that baby! Especially on a Friday night, maybe after a glass of wine!
I'm enjoying it. But I might just be a bit strange.
UPDATE: this is a samovar.
it heats water for tea. this picture is from sirkka rikka's apartment in petrozavodsk.
