'Ah have always depended on the kindness of blog buddies.'

Isn't that what Blanche DuBois said in "Streetcar"? Something like that, anyway.

Meanwhile, the kindness of my own blog buddies is nothing short of overwhelming. In today's mail, a fat white envelope stuffed full of DVDs. These are courtesy of Jan in Florida, who read my post about exercising with Mr. Darcy and was astounded that I was buying DVDs to watch when there were people like her out there who had plenty to give away.

So she did.

Wow. Is anybody else familiar with Sharpe's Rifles? I soon shall be--all 15 disks of it.

And "Drop the Dead Donkey"? A hilarious British show, set in a newsroom. I have seen only a few episodes of it. I now have all of series one and two, thanks to Jan.

And--oh, boy, look at this! "Vanity Fair!" Oh I love that book. I can't wait to watch this, twenty minutes a time. One of my favorite scenes is when Becky Sharp throws the dictionary out of the window. It sets the tone for the whole rest of the novel.

And now I shall get to watch her do it.

Mr. Darcy has helped me lose 11 pounds, the nice man. What do you think Damien Day will do for me?

Thanks, Jan!

Gratuitous picture of Mr. Darcy, and ensemble cast from "Drop the Dead Donkey," both from Google. Now, I must go exercise.
