Still here!

On the walk this morning, I happened to look up...
...and there was my old friend, the bald eagle, who I hadn't seen in a couple of months. He was sitting on a dead branch high in the tree in front of Willie the dog's house. He was staring at the lake.

I had both dogs, no Doug, and no camera. Boscoe was in that truculent mood that he gets into when Doug isn't along, and he didn't want to walk very far. So I took advantage of that, and when we reached the corner I doubled-back, left the boys in the yard, got the camera, and trotted back down the street to Willie's house.

The eagle was still there...
...but only for a few seconds. And then it lifted off, its huge heavy wings flapping slowly, and glided toward the lake.

All of which reaffirmed my basic philosophy of life: Be outside as much as possible, and pay attention.

Monday morning question

If I spend an extra 15 minutes chasing Riley around the back yard and therefore end up 15 minutes late to work, will I go to hell?
