Crossing the rocks

I think I promised you visual proof that we crossed rocks to get to our bed and breakfast.

So here are three pictures: two in daylight, cold sober, no problem, tra la la.

The third in the dark, in the rain, after a pint or two. Tra la splash! Doug did not catch me in the act of falling, but if you look closely you will see that one foot is suspiciously darker than the other. That's on account of the fact that it was soaked.

And yes, I admit it: I was wearing socks with sandals. Comfort over style. That's me.

Ahhh, but you still look so darn cute. It still looks like a grand adventure. I love jumping from rock to rock. Maybe not over water, but still seems like fun to me.

Brilliant photos! Looks like a fun way to get anywhere. OK, not as funny when it's dark and wet. But still.

In Europe, it is perfectly okay to wear socks with sandals. You must have noticed that. Too bad one of them was so wet. It must have been very uncomfortable and cold too. At least the rocks were bigger than I had imagined them to be, so I can see that it is doable, but maybe not in the dark. Did you have a flashlight?

Well just so long as you know it's wrong to wear socks and sandals.:-) Stacey would not have fared too well on those rocks either. did you hosts say anything about winter crossings when the water was higher?

You're cute, even in socks and sandals.

faye, i imagine when the water is high, they take the road. this is just a shortcut.

I always wear my hand knit socks with my sandals. I would need to see the official rule stating this is a colossal mistake before I stop.

Those are some impressive rocks. I can see where the guinness would be of issue.

What a beautiful spot! If your whole trip was as lovely as this one spot, I know you had a great time!

It must have kept you on your toes (sorry, couldn't resist!)
I could say sure that's nothin' and mean it, but at my advanced age I have to admit it is 'somethin''.
Good fordin' girl!

It looks like fun in the daylight, less fun in the dark.
re socks with sandals - Our daughter swears that the Great Dane was the only one who still did that over here. You'll need some nice home made, stripey socks.

I've never seen it written in stone that you can't wear socks with sandals.

I'm not sure I could maneuver across that. My left ankle is a party pooper.

I scanned the phtos before I read the text, and my first thought was "Hmm, socks and sandals, not the best thing for river crossings"

Hi Laurie, I have an award for you over at my place. Please come and get it.

WT my feet were so tired and bruised from the hikes (those steep and long downhills are hell on toes) that i needed to give them a break from my hiking boots.

and i knew you would notice the socks.

Hurrah for a great holiday, for writing so evocatively and posting such wonderful photographs of it, for getting home safely and for all going well with Boscoe. I hope you're loving being back in your own bed?

But socks with sandals? - hmmm, The Gossamer Woman is stretching the truth here. It's not seen as a good look here in Britain, although men, more than women, are judged harshly and found wanting if spotted in them. Hiking in tight jeans seems to be ok, though!
