One more little Riley victory (and then we'll move on)
This morning Doug had a dentist appointment, so I took both dogs on the walk. You know how that goes. But it didn't! It went well. I made Riley sit and watch me, and he did. Boscoe liked it, because every time I gave Riley a treat, I gave Boscoe one, too.
Victory of the morning: I made Riley sit and watch me while a noisy city truck pulling a rattling trailer zipped past. Normally that makes him go nuts. This morning, he wanted to go nuts. You could see it in his body, in the way he tensed, the way he quivered. But he wanted the treat just a wee bit more. He sat very still, and all he moved was his eyeballs....
Defeat of the morning: I tried to get him to sit and watch me while he was mesmerized by squirrels. Mistake. He didn't hear me. I gave it up and we moved on.
