Just a lovely weekend

It had a little bit of everything:

1) An unexpected gift.
(In the mail--some premium roasted coffeebeans and a big coffee mug, a gift from someone I worked with years and years and years ago and who now runs a little coffeeshop outside of Chicago.)

2.) Beautiful weather. (It got to 50 both days, and Riley and I walked our socks off. We walked for an hour and a half today, looking for wild turkeys. Found, instead, a bald eagle. The sun was out, the snow was melting fast, the puddles were deep, the breeze was fresh. A very classic March day.)

3.) Rowdy drunkenness. (We weren't actually rowdy, and we weren't actually drunk. But we went out on Saturday night with a friend from Chicago (a different one) and a few people from here in the Cities. One question: Why would anyone, no matter how drunk they are, ever do karaoke??) (We didn't. But everyone in the bar who did was flat.)

4.) Time on the porch. (It's finally warm enough for porch weather. Boscoe and I spent hours each day on the front porch, sometimes with the little space heater going. He barked at every passing dog, I read and wrote and even managed a bit of a nap.)

5.) A visit from a wonderful sister-in-law. (Always a great pleasure!)
