So far so good
The Red River hasn't risen as high as people feared--at least, not yet. Even so, the river is higher than it's ever been before.
It's very cold in Fargo, and there are still huge chunks of ice in the river that need to melt. The cold slows the melt, which keeps the river from rising fast, which is good. But the forecast is for a winter storm, which could dump a foot of snow on the city, which is bad.
(Yes, floods in the north involve snow and ice and cold. Floods in the south involve alligators.)
News this morning was that a dike was breached and a school flooded. But so far, the news has been good.
