Quiet, but just you wait

I realize I've been quiet. I'm trying to finish my book. I have a lunch date for next tuesday (Aug. 4) with my editor, and I am expected to hand the whole thing over, a printout as well as an electronic version, properly formatted according to their incredibly picky specifications, along with a five-page author questionnaire and a CD of possible photos.

So I've been scrambling.

I don't really have an introduction or an afterword written, though I think I'll have an afterword in good shape by next Tuesday. And I spent hours and hours on Saturday just trying to format the damn thing--I won't go into the frustrations but trust me, they abound. Especially getting the f***ing page numbers to print. Not sure I've mastered that yet, but I'll find out the next time I print.

Meanwhile, Boscoe seems good. We've kept him quiet for two whole weeks, and it's starting to wear on him; this morning when Doug took Riley for a walk Boscoe paced from window to window, looking for them. He sees Dr. J tomorrow morning, and I'm assuming he'll tell us to stop the Metacam completely. And then we'll see, won't we?

Meanwhile, that crazy Abby Jo left us a gift card for taking care of her. Absolutely not necessary! She was a joy to take care of and she provided much entertaining blog fodder. But it was nice of her. (Or of Lo.)

Anyway, this is just ketchup to let you know all's well here, but busy. More after I turn in the book. And geez, then what will I do with all my free time?
