Nobody could have had a snowier Christmas Eve

The actual quote, of course, is "nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve." But ours isn't noisy, just snowy. We got about five inches overnight, and it's supposed to snow all day, all night, all day, all night, stopping some time on Dec. 26. They're saying anywhere from a foot to nearly two feet.
We leaped out of bed and shoveled at 6 a.m. We will shovel again. And again.
All plans are up in the air. Will Doug's family make it to our house this evening? Should I put on the meatballs and start baking the ham? Should I clean the house? Will my brother and his family make it to Minneapolis from Iowa on Christmas Day? Or will we all be celebrating Christmas on New Year's?

Here is a lovely view of our compost bin in the snow. The bridal veil bush looks almost like it is in bloom.
I'd better clean the house, just in case our guests actually do make it. And I need to do justice to this beautiful Christmas arrangement, which arrived yesterday from a certain blogger. I wish you could smell it; it's all piney and woodsy. Thank you! And Merry Christmas!
