Two feet of snow? The 7 p.m. update

I don't think we made it to two feet.  Official reports say St. Paul got about 16 inches.  But with blowing and drifting, some of the piles are pretty deep.

This is our front walk.

This is Doug, snowblowing the entire block.

This is my shovel. Not pictured: my aching back.

These are pedestrians walking down the car-less street
because it has a bit less snow than the sidewalks.

This is our house, a bit different than it was 24 hours ago. Inside and out!
We got back from walking the dogs to find that the fireplace had backed up
and the whole first floor was full of smoke. Ah, winter.

Two feet of snow? The noon update

The front walk looks like it has not been shoveled today. But you know that it has been. Twice.

Pretty soon there will be nowhere to throw it.

Two Feet of Snow? Part 2

A full six inches of new snow at 6:30 a.m.

The front of the house looks a little blurry because I hadn't had coffee yet. And perhaps neither had the camera.

The flash shows how fast the snow is falling.

Boscoe is crabby. He can't get up the back stairs when they're snowy, and must be carried. And you know how much he likes being carried. Don't pick me up!

Doug is out right now (it's 7:20 a.m.) doing the first swath with the snowblower. It's a very low-power snowblower, and it can only handle about six inches at the most.

So he'll do a run now, and then another one after a few hours.  The snow does not look like it has any intention of stopping.
