Believe it or not
Now I have to decide whether or not to believe these two tests, or whether to think, as one friend said, that I've been had.
I am so confused. If Riley's results seemed more suited to Boscoe--whose DNA, of course, we did not submit--Rosie's seem more like they belong to Riley.
There was no mention of cattle dog or Aussie, although her mother, apparently, is 25 percent Australian koolie. She is also harrier, Ibizan (and she does have a "springy trot," as Ibizans are supposed to have), and then, in smaller doses, Akita, beagle, and sheepdog.
But the father? Going all the way back, father, father's father, father's father's father....Lab. Lab. Lab. Lab. Lab. As far as the eye can see.
Now I just have to figure out whether or not to believe any of this. I guess it doesn't matter--she's sweet and fairly obedient and eager to please and healthy and happy. We'll never breed her or show her (obviously), and so lineage doesn't really matter. We are merely curious.
And if nothing else, getting the results gives me a great excuse to post a whole bunch of new pictures of Miss Winsome. Enjoy.

Yeah for DNA tests, especially because you did get to paste a lot of pictures.
She really is so very cute.
I think she has a labs face --
she's going to be a big girl.
I was going to say lab in there somewhere.
How fun to get those and look at her to figure out where this part or that one comes from.
She is too cute !!! Course, I love black dogs and labs.
She looks labby to me. And terribly cute in that last photo.
Lab, Lab, Lab....now whenever she misbehaves you can just think that you've had a lab test - and not had to pay the doctor for it!
Sorry...no coffee yet.
It's cool to know. Now, if someone says, What kind of dog? you can pull out the papers.
Hm, it doesn't look like you're much wiser now. I don't think I'll be shelling out for DNA tests any time soon. Not that I've ever heard of anyone offering them in Ireland anyway.
Hi, Very cool-I always thought she looked like a lab to me. Well the important stuff is her personality-she is such a doll. We may be getting a puppy this week, I'm very excited.
Hugs, Noreen
What ever she is she is cute! She should love the water when you go north! :)
Aww, she is so adorable! Yes I can see the lab, too. Daddy dog must have been a bit of a wanderer, eh?
Rosie is a wonderful mutt, and there's nothing better than a mutt. No need to come up with a designer name for her either. Like my next-door neighbor's dogs (a "schnoodle" and a "chiweenie"). I just call them "mutts."
Why do you have such a hard time believing the DNA tests? Why should they pull the wool over your eyes? You had preconceived ideas of what she was supposed to be and she turned out to be something different. Surely you can live with that. And what is wrong with being a lab? I'm sure you can make up an interesting name for her particular breed.
What, no wolverine DNA? You was robbed!
This one seems much more on the mark. I'd completely buy the ibizan, harrier, lab mix, heavy on the lab, with some legginess from the ibizan. And 100% cute.
Adorbz.

I think Brigette, the Mom, is a Border collie.
